Azur et Asmar
L’Orchestre de Chambre de Genève
The story ofAzur and Asmar, brought to life through images and animation by Michel Ocelot, is now a classic of animated cinema that encourages viewers to reflect on social inequalities and to discover cultures other than their own.
For whilst the adventure of the two foster brothers, Azur and Asmar, is unique, it certainly strikes a universal chord. With the beauty of Michel Ocelot’s imagery combined with that of Gabriel Yared’s original score, how can one not be moved by this story, in which kindness and respect triumph over contempt and denial?
And when the score is performed live, in perfect synchronisation with the film, the emotion is amplified. Leading this performance are the Geneva Chamber Orchestra, conducted by Raphaël Merlin, alongside soloists Mohamed Najem on the ney flute and Yousef Zayed on the oud. Pure enjoyment guaranteed for a lovely family afternoon!
The Geneva Chamber Orchestra is a resident organisation at Concorde.
