Benjamin Dupé
Benjamin Dupé is as much a musician – he composes as well as playing electronic music and the guitar – as he is a director.
After studying at the Nantes Conservatoire and then at the Paris National Conservatoire of Music, he devoted himself to musical creation in the broadest sense: instrumental, vocal and electroacoustic composition, improvisation and performance, musical theatre, opera, installations…
His vision of musical creation that plays with the boundaries between disciplines, his sense of the dramaturgy of listening, and his focus on engaging with the audience naturally lead him to stage his own work as a composer.
Since 2012, he has been artistic director of the company Comme je l’entends, les productions. Through this company, he has served as associate composer at the Phénix, Valenciennes’ national theatre, the Nouveau Théâtre de Montreuil – a national drama centre, the Théâtre Durance in Château-Arnoux / Saint-Auban, the Théâtre de Caen, a state-subsidised opera house, and subsequently at the Vélo Théâtre in Apt, a state-subsidised venue specialising in the intersection of the arts and sciences. Since January 2026, he has been artist-in-residence at La Citadelle in Marseille.
In 2016, he received the SACD’s New Talent in Music Award and, in 2021, was selected as a laureate of the Ministry of Culture’s ‘Mondes nouveaux’ programme.
