Ma maison est noire
Mina Kavani
Forough Farrokhzâd was a rebellious poet, an avant-garde filmmaker and a leading figure in the feminist movement in 1960s Iran.
Sixty years on, her work continues to inspire the emancipation of Iranian women. Today, the actress and director Mina Kavani lends her voice, her body and her spirit to a dazzling performance that blends intimate storytelling with a poetic tribute.
My House is Black weaves a dialogue between two women, two generations, two exiles. That of Forough, whose books were banned after the Islamic Revolution. That of Mina, forced to leave her country to continue creating freely. Through poems, letters, interviews and images, voices echo one another, destinies intersect and eras are reflected. All set to a magnificent musical score by Eric Truffaz and Murcof.
Ma Maison est noire is an encounter, an act of passing on, and a way of ensuring that the voices of those whom others would like to silence are heard, again and again.
