Mycelium
Christos Papadopoulos / Ballet de l'Opéra de Lyon
Beneath our feet, a vast, invisible network connects trees, plants and fungi. This is the mycelium, a living web through which information, nutrients and energy flow. It is also the image that has inspired choreographer Christos Papadopoulos’s latest creation.
Fascinated by the movements of nature, he imagines a dance composed of vibrations, tremors and imperceptible metamorphoses. On stage, the twenty dancers of the Lyon Opera Ballet respond to and influence one another: one movement leads to another, like a wave passing through the group.
Set to the hypnotic music of Coti K., Mycelium gradually reveals an organism in a state of perpetual transformation. A dance of striking precision, in which the infinitely small opens up onto landscapes of unexpected grandeur.
