Etienne Saglio
To begin with, Etienne Saglio was a self-taught juggler.
He subsequently trained in the circus arts at the school in Châtellerault, before joining the Lido in Toulouse and finally the National Centre for Circus Arts in Châlons-en-Champagne. He discovered magic whilst taking part in a training course on ‘new magic’ organised by the 14:20 company.
In 2007, he created Variations for Piano and Polystyrene and L’Envol for his CNAC diploma; the latter went on to win a medal in 2008 at the Festival Mondial du Cirque de demain.
In 2009, he created Le Soir des Monstres, the founding work of the Monstres company and the piece that revealed Etienne Saglio’s artistic vision. This show was performed over a hundred times.
In recent years, alongside his personal projects, he has also collaborated with the world of music – with Eric Truffaz, the Orchestre national de France and Birds On the Wire – and with the world of dance – with the dancer Lora Juodkaite.
