Marco da Silva Ferreira
Marco da Silva Ferreira is originally from Santa Maria da Feira. Whilst studying physiotherapy at the Piaget Institute (Gaia), where he graduated in 2010, he began swimming intensively, before turning his attention to the performing arts.
A self-taught dancer, he is drawn to urban dance, pop culture and clubbing.
In 2010, he took part in the television programme So You Think You Can Dance – Portugal and danced with choreographers André Mesquita, Hofesh Shechter, Syliva Rijmer, Tiago Guedes, Victor Hugo Pontes, Paulo Ribeiro and many others. He was one of the winners of the Chanel Next Prize 2026.
In 2013, Hu(r)mano marked the start of his choreographic journey, followed in 2016 by BROTHER. This was followed by Bisonte (2019), Corpos de Baile (2020), created for the National Ballet of Portugal, and SIRI (2021), co-created with the director Jorge Jácome. Over the following years, he continued his creative collaborations in France, notably in Caen and with the Ballet de Lorraine.
Marco da Silva Ferreira has been an associate artist at the Theatro Municipal do Porto (2018–2019), the Centre national de Caen (2019–2021) and, since 2023, at the Maison de la Danse in Lyon.
