Muriel Imbach

Theatre

Raised by a philosopher father and trained at the Conservatoires of Fribourg and Lausanne, as well as at the Cours Florent in Paris, Muriel Imbach turned to directing in the early 2000s.

She worked alongside and collaborated with various artists, including Denis Maillefer, Philippe Saire, Nicole Seiler and Oskar Gomez Mata, before founding the La Bocca della Luna theatre company in 2004. In 2013, she discovered philosophy for children and undertook a distance-learning course at Laval University in Canada.

For the past ten years or so, Muriel Imbach has been presenting unique shows that blend theatre and philosophy. In 2014, she created Le Grand Pourquoi, her first project aimed at all audiences from four years old. Bleu pour les oranges, rose pour les éléphants, premiered at the Théâtre Am Stram Gram in 2016, tackles gender issues in a playful and inventive way. And the projects have followed one after another, at a rate of one per year. One example is A l’envers, à l’endroit, staged in 2019 as part of the Les Créatives Festival. The show is part of the Swiss Selection at the Avignon Festival in 2021. In 2020, she created Arborescence programmée for school classrooms. Several productions by Cie La Bocca della Luna are currently on tour.
